The Usui System of Healing

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a natural healing technique which was developed in the early 1900’s by a Japanese Buddhist Monk Dr Mikao Usui, which he went on to call the “Usui System of Natural Healing.”

Reiki is a Japanese word meaning universal (rei) life force energy (ki).
Put together, Reiki means Universal Life Energy or Spiritual Life Force.

Eastern medicine has always recognised and worked with this energy, which flows through all living things and is vital to the well-being of life. This energy is also known as “chi” in China and “prana” in India. Acupuncture, tai chi and yoga are also based on the free flow of this energy in an individual.

Today, the Usui Reiki method is one of the most powerful yet gentle ways of healing with energy and one of the most comfortable ways to inner peace, and balance, whilst tapping into the body’s own natural healing potential.

What are the benefits?

Reiki promotes good health and well-being and visibly rejuvenates your body and your energy in the most natural way.

Our lives today are increasingly pressured and stressful which often leads to prolonged periods of tiredness and increased susceptibility to illness.

Reiki works holistically assisting the body to find a balance at a physical, mental and emotional level. It amplifies the body’s energies and stimulates healing.

It is a gentle therapy, and can be used safely by all ages, including pregnancy, newborn, surgical patients and the frail and elderly, regardless of their state of health.

Reiki is non-invasive and may be used alongside conventional or natural medication.
It is an extremely relaxing and calming treatment which removes you from the day to day stresses of life and will leave you with a feeling of wellbeing.

What happens during a treatment?

Reiki works holistically assisting the body to find a balance at a physical, mental and emotional level. It amplifies the body’s energies and stimulates healing.

After an initial health consultation, you will be made comfortable on a treatment couch and the Reiki energy will be transferred in a series of hand positions utilising the chakra’s in the body.

Your body will only draw as much Reiki as is needed to bring your body into balance.

Reiki may be felt as a flow of energy, mild tingling, warmth, coolness, other sensations, or nothing at all. Reiki is deeply relaxing, eases stress, and has a calming effect.

It is important to drink plenty of water after your treatment to help the body detoxify itself.

Frequency of Treatments

One treatment can make a difference; however a course of regular treatment may be more effective. These can be weekly, fortnightly or less often dependent on individual needs. A treatment plan will be discussed with you and reviewed as necessary.

Complementary

Reiki is a very powerful, yet gentle complementary therapy which works well alongside traditional medicines and other healthcare.
